Abstract

In this work we present an unpublished bust of the Ecce Homo which we attribute to the Seville-based sculptor Gaspar Núñez Delgado. It is kept in the monastery of San Leandro in Seville and was made in polychrome terracotta following a series of the same model. Analysis of the medium surrounding this image reveals features that clearly refer to traditional syntagms of transition from Mannerism to naturalism, as well as to the catalogued production of the proposed artist whose new work we are presenting here.
