Abstract

Roads are an essential element in the formation of landscapes. This paper, by establishing some of the key aspects of the development of these infrastructures from the mid18th century and according to previous experience, aims to guide the reading of landscapes shaped by roads in the last two century, through the location of stretches of historic transportation landscapes where roads from different periods coexist. The disassembled of landscapes formed by these roads has made it possible to identify the transformation in the design and construction of these infrastructures, the uses and activities
provided by the different routes and the changes in the forms of mobility.

Rita Ruíz Fernández, University of Castilla la Mancha

PhD, with international mention, in the Territory, Infrastructures and Environment programme (University of Castilla-La Mancha, 2014), CPD in the Master "Conservation of Historic Gardens and Cultural Landscapes" (University of Bath, 2010) and Civil Engineer (University of Castilla-La Mancha, 2007). She works as Assistant Professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
José María Coronado Tordesillas, University of Castilla la Mancha

PhD in Civil Engineering, he is Professor in the area of Urban Planning in the Department of Civil Engineering and Building at the E.T.S.I. Caminos, Canales y Puertos de Ciudad Real (UCLM). Urban and Territorial Planning Group of the UCLM.
