Museum and place: (brief) notes on the History of Art Museums.

This article aims to serve as a teaching resource for the history of Western art museums. It begins with definitions of museums, from ancient times, to analyze the evolution of their concept. It is followed by ten sections titled with ten words that are linked to "place" and a proposal, provide descriptions of historical museum creations and renovations. These examples adhere to current criteria and, in addition to preserving and exhibiting, also created their own movable, architectural, and urban heritage while innovating.
The article highlights the historical relationship between heritage and museums. This relationship, combined with other concepts, can be useful for navigating the cur-rent landscape of the institution's valuation, extension, diversity, and complexity. This approach follows Oteyza's advice to move forward like rowers, by looking backward.
