This article is about the image of pain in Pane’s photographs of her Actions. These cliches are less spontaneous than one might suppose when considering some performance registers, as a matter of fact, they contain a clear artistical project. Exposing such a painless body, despite the wounds she had provoked on her skin, the artist establishes a connection with the Christian iconography of the martyrdom. This superhuman capacity of transcending pain’s corporal urgency establishes the connection between two singulars bodies: the saint’s and the performer’s.
